Buggies for Elderly, App to Help Get Around Railway Station

A buggy station, a website exclusively for the City railway station, and a navigation app for mobile phone were inaugurated at the station.

BENGALURU: A buggy station, a website exclusively for the City railway station, and a navigation app for mobile phones that will help people find their way around the station were inaugurated on Thursday at the station.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru division, Sunanda Arul, who inaugurated these facilities, said six buggies are presently available at the station.

“A buggy counter will be manned between 4 am and 11.30 pm to help the public avail of the service to get around platforms. The elderly, disabled and those with medical problems can avail of the facility,” she said. There are plans to add more buggies to the station, she added. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu, said the new navigation app is compatible with android phones and tablets and directs one to any facility in the station.

The ‘railnav app’ can be downloaded from the website www.bengalururailwaystation.com.

The website, the first of its kind in the country for an individual railway station, will provide the latest train arrival and departure timings and all contact numbers to book any facility or book complaints.
