BENGALURU: Lokayukta authorities have asked the state government to provide a hi-tech digital video recorder (DVR) with a capacity to store visuals of 30 days. The SIT probing allegations of extortion had recovered the DVR from the premises.
In-charge Registrar M S Balakrishna told Express, “We have sent the quotation to the state government.”
The recovered DVR was installed on May 11 and it has a capacity to store visuals of 15 days. The Lokayukta office has several CCTV cameras. There are three cameras at the entrance on the first floor, one in the administration section, one at the entrance of the second floor, two in the Lokayukta’s chamber, two in the visitors’ room next to the Lokayukta’s chamber and one on the fourth floor.
The SIT has recovered the DVR to probe the involvement of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao’s son Ashwin and PRO Riyaz Ahmed’s involvement in the racket. Sources said, “There are no visuals of May 4 and May 7, the days on which complainant Krishnamurthy was called to the Joint Commissioner’s office (PRO section) of Lokayukta.”
Balakrishna did not comment on whether the seized DVR had the data that would help the probe but said, “The SIT will take care of it.”
