BENGALURU: The CCB conducted simultaneous raids on four gambling dens in the city on Wednesday night and arrested six people on charges of betting for the play-off between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
The police raided an apartment at Ideal Housing Society in Rajarajeshwari Nagar police limits and arrested Rakesh Kothari (39). They have recovered Rs 3.15 lakh, a TV and two mobile phones from the accused.
Officials also raided an apartment in Amrutahalli police limits near Jakkur and arrested one Vijay Saraswat (40). They recovered Rs 1.16 lakh, a laptop, a TV and two mobile phones from here.
In Vyalikaval police limits, R Ashok Kumar was arrested from his apartment and Rs 45,000 and other items were recovered.
Police also arrested Manoj Kumar (39), T S Nanjappa (36) and R Balakrishna (45) from an apartment in Yelahanka police limits. They recovered Rs 17,770 from the accused.
During the raid on the apartment in Yelahanka, officials questioned a woman present there and learnt that she used to work at Brigade Garden Ladies Bar, and was also a prostitute. Police have arrested Kumar, the manager of the hotel, and another man. The hotel owner Manohar is absconding.
Rs 90,000 Recovered From Bettors
Central Crime Branch police on Wednesday night raided a house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar police limits and arrested six people on charges of gambling. The accused have been identified as Satish Shivaraju (40), Raju Devaiah (36), Lokesh Rajesh (35), Mahesh Iregowda (35), Raja Rajashekhar (40) and Anand Swamy (32), all residents of the area. Police recovered about Rs 90,000 in stake money from the arrested. Interrogation revealed that the accused Satish used to host such games at his residence after collecting Rs 500 per head. A case has been registered.
