Mini bus with 45 employees of garment factory falls into ditch near Bengaluru; one killed

BENGALURU: A minibus carrying 45 employees of a garment factory toppled into a ditch near Bengaluru outskirts on Tuesday morning. A 36-year-old woman employee died on the spot while five others sustained injuries.

Police said the bus was heading to the garment factory after picking employees from different villages around Bengaluru, Tumakur and Kunigal. Driver, who was allegedly over-speeding, lost control over the vehicle. It toppled into a ditch, said police.

The deceased has been identified as Kamala, a resident of Heggare village in Tumkur. Injured were shifted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru. The bus operated by the garment factory was overloaded and driver's negligence may have resulted in the mishap, police said. Soon after the mishap, the bus driver escaped.
