NIA Releases Video Clip of Church Street Blast Suspect

Rs 5 lakh reward announced for information about the suspect, walking about with a bag slung over the right shoulder

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has released CCTV footage and sought details about a person suspected to have set off the 2014 Church Street blast.

It has also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information about the suspect. NIA sleuths said the person in the video might have planted an explosive on December 28, 2014 at Church Street. A woman from Chennai was killed and three others sustained injuries in the incident.

Investigators from NIA’s Hyderabad unit have uploaded the CCTV footage on video-sharing site YouTube. Bengaluru police had obtained the footage from a CCTV installed on Church Street.

What is in CCTV footage?

The suspect looks like a man with a slightly longish stride. He wears a light-coloured cap, and has a bag slung over his right shoulder. He can be seen from three angles, but his face is not visible. Presumably, the investigators are playing safe and saying ‘person’ and not ‘man’ because the video is not clear enough to determine the gender of the suspect. What Video Says

The footage carries this message: The footage was taken at around 7 pm at Church Street on the day of the blast. The identity of the informer will be kept secret. Those with information... may write a mail to info.hyd.nia@gov.in or contact 040-27764488.
