Beda? No, beku: George lines up AV presentation on steel flyover

BENGALURU: While the whole of Bengaluru civil society is saying 'Steel Flyover beda', minister K J George has taken it upon himself to persuade the media and the city's elected reps why the flyover from Basaveshwara Circle to Hebbal flyover to quite beku.

The Bengaluru development ministr George, assited by top officials of the BDA have decided to make an audio-visual presentation on the Rs 1800 cr project for legislators and the media at Vikasa Soudha tomorrow.

The presentation is meant to address the objections raised by union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, in whose Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency the steel bridge falls. Most Bengaluru BJP MLAs too are opposing the project.

Sadananda Gowda had sought a meeting between Bengaluru's elected reps and Gowda to thrash out the issue. Several citizens fora who are opposing the project in the city are demanding a public hearing on the necessity of the project, for which 812 trees would have to be cut down. They want the government to consider alternative plans to ease the commute from the heart of the city to the international airport.
