Speaking to reporters, Sood said, "The activists have all the rights to fight for issues over language or any other issue. The police will support them if they do so within the ambit of law and order. But anyone taking the law into their hands will not be tolerated and stern action will be taken".

The city police on Friday filed cases against 36 pro-Kannada activists, including Narayanagowda, the president of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike after protesters entered Metro stations on Thursday night and blackened Hindi name boards.

Six of them were arrested on Friday, on charges of destroying public property.
