BENGALURU:  Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananth Kumar Hegde on Sunday said the first batch from Indian Institute of Skill Development services will be out soon just like IAS and IPS cadres. He was speaking at an interaction event on ‘empowering youth’ held at BBMP open air theatre in Mahalakshmi Layout. The government is planning to come up with a separate administrative government cadre for skill development.

The government plans to establish seven institutions in the country for the purpose. However, it is yet to identify a place in Karnataka to establish the institution. There is a necessity to conceptualise skill development in India. The perspective has to be changed in order to bring the downtrodden class to the main stream, he said.He took a dig at Indian universities saying that their research theses are not practical.
