Karnataka's Tumakuru decked up for President Murmu’s visit

TUMAKURU: The city has been bedecked to welcome President Droupadi Murmu, who is scheduled to participate in the 119th birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji at Siddaganga Mutt here on Wednesday at 11 am. She will address a gathering, of more than 10,000 children from all communities, irrespective of caste and creed — largely students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories and minorities — studying in the Mutt.

Over one lakh devotees from across the State are expected to attend, and arrangements are under way to serve them food, including sweets, informed Dr Shivakumaraiah, a functionary of the Mutt. From Tumakuru University (TU) helipad she will proceed by road to the Mutt.

Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and V Somanna, along with Ministers M B Patil, Lakshmi Hebbalkar and Dr G Parameshwara, will attend the event.
