BENGALURU: A major security alert was triggered in Bengaluru after two gelatin sticks were found near the convoy route scheduled to be used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kaggalipura on Sunday morning.

Speaking to the media, Central Division Deputy Inspector General (DIG)
Girish said that a constable found a suspicious packet and alerted senior officials. Upon information, the anti-sabotage team and police personnel rushed to the spot, recovered two gelatin sticks, and conducted thorough checks. No arrests had been made so far and the investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, police have detained a Koramangala resident for allegedly making a threatening phone call ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bengaluru. The suspect reportedly alerted authorities to a potential threat on Sunday morning, prompting immediate security sweeps.

In response, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), canine units, and police personnel conducted exhaustive searches at the Prime Minister's scheduled venues: the HAL grounds and the Art of Living center in Bengaluru South.

A joint investigation is currently underway by the Bengaluru City and Bengaluru South district police to determine the credibility of the threat.

The police is also probing whether there is any connection between the threat call and the gelatin sticks.
