IRC’s 84th annual session to kick off from November 7 in Bhubaneswar

Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, who is also the chairman of the state advisory committee of the IRC, said cultural programmes will be organised in each of day of the event.

BHUBANESWAR: The 84th annual session of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) will be held in the state capital from November 7 to 10.

This will be the 6th time that the state government is going to organise the event, the last time being in 2015 for the 75th IRC session. Over 2,000 delegates from across the country, including engineers, technical experts, policymakers and industry professionals are expected to attend the annual event. The session will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and discussion on key issues related to road infrastructure development.

On the inaugural day, the 235th council meeting followed by five technical sessions will be held. The 85th meeting of Highways Research Board will be held on November 8 followed by seven technical sessions. The 84th business meeting and 236th council meeting of the IRC have been planned on November 9 and 10.

The first technical session will be attended by engineering students and research scholars of IITs, NITs and engineering colleges. The annual conference of IRC will feature a technical exhibition showcasing the latest developments in road infrastructure and technology. It will display innovative solutions, products and services related to road construction, maintenance and safety.
