COFFEE shops are thought to be a hangout where friends can get noisy but HoC or High on Caffeine in Adyar is a coffee shop where friends, lovers, colleagues and even parents can indulge in some sports activity and unwind.

When Maya motors started the Mitsubhishi showroom at LB road, they had more than adequate place and the left over was decided to have a haunt for recreation. Hence, started HoC with full of entertainment. The coffee shop boasts of a large pool table, a foozeball for the first time in a coffee hangout in the city, video games and a large screen for viewing.

What more? They also have other board games that one can play anytime they want. Of course, the huge seating area with an interior decked with posters of international football teams can accommodate around 50 people at the same time. That being a space meant only for sipping in coffee with some mouth-watering short eats; the large entry space has all the games with music of your choice. HoC leaves the choice of music with the guests. So, if you want to hear your favourite hits, come in with your music CDs. You can also play your favourite channels on the large screen and at times can also play your favourite movies, provided the CDs are meant for commercial viewing and not for home. All you have to pay is Rs 100 for a half an hour game of pool and foozeball and Rs 150 for playing some video games. Not to forget the challenger trophy that was held recently in foozeball.

If all these are just not enough, then pull up a beanbag and take a nap. No one at HoC will stop a guest from relaxing, even if they don’t buy a cup of coffee.

The hangout is open from 3 to 11 p.m. But if you are making a early entry to the place, then you better be a part of the events that happen in the early hours of the day. Business meets and other get-together happen in the morning with cups of coffee and some short-eats, courtesy HoC.

The no-smoking coffee shop offers pure vegetarian delicious short-eats that one would love to have with a hot cuppa coffee or tea. Besides the indoor games, HoC offers wi-fi connection to all those who want browse, sipping on their favourite drink. All that they have to do is to ask for the password from the HoC staff and start browsing.

All these being a part of the weekdays, weekends get special with budding artists and band performing live at the café and getting the guests high on music. Anyone who wishes to perform can do and HoC gives you all the latest acoustics to make your music loud and clear.

Be it bunking classes or having a business talk, HoC is the place to go for you not just get high on caffeine but also on sports.
