HEIGHTS of desperation. Blasting in full size one’s cell phone number and declaring in uncanny diction - ‘I want to make friendship with you…’ Though it hardly even grazes the periphery of syntax sensibilities, this is an oft seen recurrence in the world of social networking, where castration fraught men try their luck to woo women. As much as I can’t comprehend how a woman would fall for a man who in all such idiosyncrasy puts up such a show to make heads turn, the men perhaps don’t realise they are otherwise proclaiming, ‘I am just as desperate as horny!’. Or perhaps they are very much aware of its meaning and are ok with it.
Women too are not far behind in expressing their state of mind. Though social networking sites may not be the superlative choice for making such an avowal, other forms of outlets pave way for elucidating their despondency. A few days ago, my friend who had gone for an unaccompanied dinner was without much ado taken notice of by two women dining at the table opposite. In no time, a tissue paper came rolling to his feet. He picked it up and saw two numbers scrawled across it with two names. And he, to the utter disenchantment of the duo simply threw it out of the window! “What did they expect? A gang-bang?” he later asked me.
Acts such as these may not triumph, particularly when someone is looking for a serious relationship, but in the world of flings and one-night-stands, these might well work. Though these come across as ludicrous to me, at this point, let me make a suggestion. Just put an ad in the paper instead. It has a much wider reach.
