CHENNAI: The ongoing 136th International annual Convention of the Theosophical Society had, as a first of its lecture series, Ricardo Lindemann speaking on ‘Brotherhood is the First Step’. Ricardo Lindemann, who was at one point the General Secretary of the Brazilian section of the Theosophical Society, is also the author of two books.
He said, “It is through relationships that we discover ourselves. Through self-discovery, action takes place. Self-knowledge comes from relationships. Learn to distinguish God in everyone. Nobody is completely evil; it is only in the exterior. Learn how to appeal to the goodness of each person.”
Stressing further on his point on brotherhood and partnerships, Lindermann said that it was only the voluntary sacrifices of people that led to peace, which eventually became the centre of European Union, bringing peace in Europe - a tell tale sign of brotherhood. “The creation of European Union (EU) is the political realisation of unification, which is a living victory for brotherhood. For ultimate unity, brotherhood is the first step.”
He also quoted J Krishnamurthy’s Practical Approach to Daily Living in his speech. Lindemann said, “Like J Krishnamurthy said, always look for an opportunity to help, do not be hesitant to love.”
Speaking to City Express later, he said, “J Krishnamurthy grew up very much on this campus (Adyar Theosophical Society) and his thoughts have deep connection with theosophy. His approach to living is practical and passionate.”
The convention, on the theme, A Regenerating Practical Brotherhood, will be on at the Adyar Theosophical Society till December 31. Prayer meetings, meditation, lectures and symposia would be held during these days.
