A day after Muslim outfits staged protests against Vijay’s latest flick Thuppakki, alleging that it portrayed the entire community as terrorists, film director A R Murugadoss, producer S Dhanu and Vijay’s father S A Chandrasekar sought to buy peace by tendering an open apology to representatives of 23 different Muslim outfits in front of the media.

They clarified that Thuppakki was made only as an entertainer and had no intention of hurting the Muslim community.

The makers of the film also agreed to mute voices during some of the scenes and entirely delete certain “objectionable frames”.

“When they (Muslim groups) pointed out how a few sequences of the film had affected them, I felt bad even though it was unintentional. I always believe that Muslims are our blood relatives and I am making an open apology to them,” said Murugadoss.

Around 10 representatives of Islam outfits met the film crew on Thursday afternoon to discuss the issue.

When producer S Dhanu said the changes sought in the film would be made in a day or two, the representatives agreed to it, though, according to them, “the wound cannot be healed.”

Meanwhile, the security provided to movie houses screening Thuppakki since Wednesday was extended on Thursday.

The same level of security will remain at all movie houses in the city and any decision to withdraw it would be taken after reviewing the threat level, said a top police source.
