Pujas and Bhajans mark Nandotsav celebrations

The second day of Janmashtami,  the Nandotsav celebrations, was conducted on a grand scale by Shree Geetha Bhavan Trust at the Geetha Bhavan in Avvai Shanmugam Salai on Thursday. On the occasion, abhishekams and special poojas were performed to the idol of lord Krishna.

A special troupe was convened on the occasion to render bhajans and other devotional songs, transforming the occasion into a more divine one.

A large number of devotees visited the venue and took part in the event.

Also, a special exhibition with exhibits depicting various episodes from the holy epics, including the Mahabharatha, Ramayana and Srimad Bhagavatham, was held.

The episodes included a toddler Sri Krishna slaying the evil demons Poothana and Kamsa, the Bhagavad Gita discourse, where Krishna enlightens Arjuna on the need to perform his duty.

An office-bearer of the Trust said that consolation prizes would be distributed to school students, the competitions for which were conducted in July.
