Thyagaraja Aradhana celebrations held

Upcoming and senior musicians gathered to sing the Pancharathna Kritis at the Thyagaraja celebrations held by Bharat Kalachar here on Sunday.

The one-hour annual event, organised under the endowment of P Obul Reddy and P Gnanamba, witnessed the participation of about 80 musicians, including vocalists Jayalakshmi Santhanam, M S Padma and Radha Bhaskar and Melakaveri K Thyagarajan and C K Vijayaraghavan on the violin, R Athul Kumar on the flute, K R Ganesh on the mridangam, S Krishna on the ghatam and V V S Manian on the kanjira.

The vocalists were also supported by young mandolin, keyboard and saxophone players. A representative of Bharat Kalachar said an honorarium was given to the participants as a token of appreciation.
