Supreme power exists within

Aswati Anand

Understanding of god

To me, god is that supreme power existing in everything we see. Nature is god you can say. God is that supreme power that cannot be limited with name or shape.

Spiritual beliefs

I believe in the existence of a supreme power within everybody; the power that guides you from within, when you stay away from ‘Dharma’ or the right path.  I believe that ‘Himsa’ is in the mind, in the form of selfishness. God lives in a mind, which free from jealousy. Doing our duties without attachment is the path to attain divinity.

Spiritual practices

I spend some time for meditation everyday. I do visit temples occasionally. It is my priority to listen to spiritual gurus. I find it appealing when classics like Bhagavat Gita and Bhaagavatham are explained in the context of everyday life so that we can lead a better life.

Pilgrimage sites

The pilgrimage site I visit regularly is Sri Mookambika temple in South Karnataka. Mookambika is the goddess of knowledge. Knowledge from books as well as from experiences in life  are both important for our life. The temple’s location in a forest area, the divine river  Souparnika flowing near by, the sight of Kodachadri hills, the conviction with which the pujaris do the pujas — all these make Mookambika my choice for a pilgrimage.

Miracles

To be frank, I do not know what a miracle is. I have experienced the presence of god’s helping hand in many occasions. If you like to call it a miracle, fine! But I do not expect any miracle to happen in my life, nor do I pray for one.
