Vedas move from scriptures to diaries

N Vinoth Kumar

Diaries, which are filled with one’s secret thoughts, memories, addresses and so on, are considered to be more of a treasure. In the past, diaries were used as calendars or panchangams to mark religious occasions. Later, they started coming out with printed proverbs and adages.

Now, for the first time, Nightingale Products has come up with a new initiative called Vedic Cosmos, where sayings are included in the diaries to impart moral values to the next generation.

‘Nightingale Products’ is a part of the brand, Srinivas Fine Arts Private Limited, a city-based stationery major. Creating a brand name for itself, ‘Nightingale Diaries’ has turned out to be one of the famous stationery majors in Asia. Vedic Cosmos engages in creation of products that foster inspiration into the spiritual realms of ancient wisdom.

Speaking about the new initiative, Vedic Cosmos national manager (Retail) K Sivakumar said that it was meant to inspire people to delve deeper into the profound Vedic heritage. The range of diaries, journals, notebooks, cubic pads, wisdom decks and files depict the sacred art work, besides being the ideal gifts for those on a voyage of spiritual quest.”

“The messages in Vedas help shape one’s life in a good manner. Through ‘Vedic cosmos’, we are basically spoon-feeding the next generation with moral values. The range of products under this initiative serves as a reminder of the inherent values, irrespective of religion, society or country,” he added

Stressing that the new initiative was a spiritual and not a religious one, Sivakumar said, “Some of the products embody essential tools that aid in daily worship. Vedic symbols, colours and motifs have been employed in fresh style and the art used is meant to serve as a window into a multi-dimensional realm of Vedic lore.”

The works of great artists like G L N Simha and Maniam Selvan are used in most of these products.

The printing house also brings out journals like Temples of India, Wisdom of the Rishis and books like Thirukkural, mini Bhagavad Gita, vedic stotras and gift items like wisdom decks.

“In the near future, we plan to bring eco-friendly diaries and management diaries containing messages of Arthashastra in simple words,” Sivakumar concluded.
