Express News Service

A Class XII student who had recently passed out of a private school in Keelkattalai was stoned to death by his senior after a fisticuff, which erupted out of a previous enmity, here on Monday evening.

The incident took place in front of Holy Family Convent in Keelkattalai when Hariharan (17), son of Ravikumar, came with his friends to collect his certificates from the school, around 4.30 pm.

Sources said Hariharan and his friends went to Phoenix Market City last week for a birthday bash with Ashok Kumar - a senior who completed Class XII last year and now pursuing his B Com - and his friends last week.

During the bash, Hariharan and Ashok Kumar picked up a quarrel, which was brought to an end with the intervention of other friends. Ashok Kumar vowed to teach Hariharan a lesson when he would come to collect his certificates from the school.

As planned, Ashok Kumar and his two friends, who were on the wait, intercepted Hariharan who came with four of his friends, and picked up an argument. This led to fisticuffs. Ashok Kumar was pushed down on the ground in Madipakkam Main Road. Ashok Kumar picked a stone and attacked Hariharan. It hit the latter on the temple and he lost consciousness on the spot. A passerby took Ashok Kumar and two of his friends to the Madipakkam Police Station and shifted Hariharan to a private hospital. Doctors there declared Hariharan dead on arrival.

A murder case was registered against Ashok Kumar, son of Sekar, a mason, and he was arrested. Hariharan’s  body was moved to Chrompet GH for post-mortem.
