A complete fitness centre, a wholesome health studio, a gym that has everything you could think of – the O2 health Studio fits into all these categories. Last week, O2 celebrated its 12th anniversary.

Started in 2001 with a single branch in Nungambakkam, the gym offered a variety of services in the area of fitness. Since then, it has launched seven branches in different parts of the city, each standing out with special features.

The studio launched aerobics, yoga, kickboxing and dance under one roof in addition to bringing up unique features like an indoor walking track and virtual cycling, among others in each centre to break the monotony of regular exercises.

Behind the success of O2 is Nina Reddy, who has several other feathers in her cap, including the Dutchess Club and Utsav — pertaining to women and fitness, and as the joint managing director of Savera Industries. Being a fitness freak herself, she was determined to make others fit too.

“She has always been a fitness freak and she drives others to follow healthy food habits and fitness exercises. You can visibly notice from our body structures that she runs a health studio and I run a Hospitality sector (Savera hotels),” said Ravi Kumar Reddy, managing director of Savera Hotels, much to the laughter of the audience.

On the occasion, the O2 core team recognised its members by presenting them awards under categories such as ‘Most Regular Member’, ‘Long-Term Member’, ‘Achiever’ and ‘Valuable Member’, from all seven branches. The event also saw cultural performances by members of the health studio.

Stars like Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Shalini Ajith and Mansoor Ali Khan, and RJ Dheena graced the occasion.
