Ex-panchayat Councillor Held for Slashing Realtor's Hand

CHENNAI: A former panchayat councilor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly slashing the hand of a real estate broker following a dispute over a property.

The accused, Murthy (43), who was an MDMK functionary then, had intercepted the broker, Jagadeeshan (47), around 12.30 pm on Tuesday at the Thulukathamman main road and picked  an argument with him. “Murthy suddenly took out a knife and slashed Jagadeeshan’s hand,” police said. Jagadeeshan was admitted in a hospital and on his complaint, Murthy was arrested.
