CHENNAI: Dr R Hariprakash, vice-chairman (professional activities), IEEE India Council and secretary IEEE Control systems Society – Madras section, inaugurated a two-day workshop on Control Systems – Real Time Applications, at the Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman College of Engineering (AMACE) recently. Hariprakash outlined the objective of organising the workshop and stressed the need for hands-on experience to succeed in the field. Dr MR Mohan, the principal, delivered a lecture on ‘Introduction to Control Drives and Systems’, and briefed about the importance of economic dispatch control and its impact on the industry. The other topics that were discussed include ‘Time Domain and Frequency Domain Analysis’, ‘MATLAB simulation of V/F controlled induction motor’ and ‘Control system for DC drives’ among others. Professor S Rajappa, director of the institution, was present among others. The principal distributed certificates and workshop technical material to the 52 participants. The workshop had participants from Anna University, VIT University, SRM University, Indian Army, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute University, Pondicherry Engineering College, AMACE and MCE among others.
