The Indian market leader in A3 printers, Konica Minolta, strengthened its presence in the larger and more lucrative A4 market with the launch of its new 3-in-1 A4 printer the Pagepro1580MF.

The monochrome laser printer will fill an important gap in the company’s line of printers by catering to the steady growth in demand for 3-in-1 laser printers in the Indian market.

Managing director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions India Tadhahiko Sumitani said while launching the project that while the company was quite strong in the A3 and production printer segments its presence in the high growth A4 market needed a lot of strengthening.

“We are expanding Konica Minolta’s range of A4 printers. We forayed into the A4 segment in India last year, and we have done reasonably well. We are now eying a greater share of the market. We are optimistic about our growth in the A4 segment,” he said.

The product can support a 16 MB memory and can be used for A4, letter, B5, A5, A6, Executive size printing and is equipped with a printing speed of 20 papers per minute. The company also says that because the printer comes with a dual component toner and drum, the drum life of the printer is longer and the per paper printing cost over the long run is cheaper than their competitors. The printer is priced at `10,500.

Executive general manager of Marketing Balakrishnan and Executive General Manager of Sales Kuldeep Malhotra were also present at the launch event.
