Lives of Arcot Twins Captured in Book

CHENNAI: Ramaswami Mudaliar and Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar are indeed the exceptional twins of Arcot, and the book The Unparalleled Arcot Twins, which is authored by P Rajaraman, a former professor with Nandanam Arts College reveals the same.

The book, which is priced `295, was launched in the city on Saturday and gives a synopsis about the life and achievement of the twins. While Dr Mayilvahanan Natarajan, former vice chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University released the book, the event was organised by the Arcot Ramaswami Mudaliar Trust.

Speaking at the function, Rajaraman said that he had compiled the information by speaking to the children of the twins and had contacted leading newspapers. The biography tells one how the twins excelled in their chosen field. While Lakshmanaswamy was a doctor, Ramaswami was a lawyer and was honoured with various prestigious awards including the Padma Vibhushan.

M Anandakrishnan, Chairman of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and family members of the Arcot twins were present at the book launch.
