The bus was carrying IT employees to Navalur. “To reach the Velachery bridge, the vehicles coming from Madipakkam road have to take a left turn at Kaiveli junction. The bus and the scooter were simultaneously taking the turn when the left side of the bus scraped the scooter, throwing  the woman and child on to the road,” said an officer with the Traffic Investigating Wing (St Thomas Mount).

Police have booked the bus driver Muthu for negligent driving. Both the boy and the mother were not wearing helmets, police said.
