CHENNAI:On the eve of the 26th Anniversary of V Narayana Iyer memorial Trust and 105th year of V Narayana Iyer, the title of ‘Pravachana Vachaspathi’ was conferred on Prema Pandurang and Life time Achievement Award was conferred on Vadagudi Rama Deekshithar at Krishna Gana Sabha here on Saturday. Several other eminent personalities from different walks of life were also honoured on this occasion. Narayana Iyer was a leading lawyer of Madurai, who was instrumental in establishing several banking and leading commercial institutions, notably the Bank of Madurai. A civil lawyer by profession, Narayana Iyer was reputed in handling important brief of private and public institutions and was the leader of the bar. The Trust instituted in his name has been doing charitable deeds such as feeding the poor, and giving out medical aid and education. Scholars were invited to deliver lectures in their chosen field. Justice Dr N Chokkalingam, (judicial member – National Green Tribunal-Southern Zone), who gave away the awards, stressed on the need for the youngsters to emulate the good deeds of elders in establishing the dharmic way of life. He also expounded the basic tenets of life, to achieve higher goals with dedication.
