CHENNAI: Nostalgia flowed free, on the Loyola College campus on Saturday, as old students of commerce department (1973-76 batch) descended from across the world for a reunion - a rare opportunity that they didn’t want to miss.

Four decades of separation had made it hard to recognise for a few, but as the initial minutes wore on, they remembered all the good old times. One of them, Ram Venkat, came all the way from Abu Dhabi to meet his old pals. It was he who took the initiative two years ago. Currently Chief Financial Officer of GIBCA group, a multinational company, Venkat said, “I was in touch with only 15 to 30 of my batch mates.

We had been preparing for this meet for the last eight months.” Of a total 126 students, he managed to get in touch with nearly 100. The batch vividly remembers their Principal Kuria Kose who was feared as well as admired. Seeing the cricket ground in the college, SK Patil who played for Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy in 1976 said, he used to practice there.
