Madras HC orders post-mortem of Swathi murder accused

The Madras High Court on Monday ordered post-mortem of the body of P. Ramkumar who, the police say, committed suicide in Puzhal prison.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Monday ordered post-mortem of the body of P. Ramkumar who, the police say, committed suicide in Puzhal prison here.

Ramkumar was taken into custody as the prime suspect in connection with the murder of Infosys employee S. Swathi at a railway station.

Hearing a petition filed Ramkumar's father, the court ordered the post-mortem to be conducted on Tuesday in the presence of a forensic expert representing the petitioner.

According to police, Ramkumar committed suicide by biting into a live wire on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties in the state have demanded a probe into the alleged suicide of Ramkumar by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Ramkumar's relatives in his native Meenakshipuram village in Tirunelveli district protested on the road demanding a CBI probe.
