CHENNAI: The Phoenix Company, a city-based advertising firm, is organising a two-day Christmas pop-up and origami workshop at The Sreenivas Art Gallery from today. The Christmas pop-up contains festive-themed hampers, T-shirts, purses, handmade jewellery, and decoration items. The price of products for sale ranges from `150 to `2,000 (exclusive of GST).

“We design our own products. There is hardly anything that we outsource. All the handmade jewellery and the decorations items are designed by my sister Upasana,” says Aditi Maithreya, creative head, The Phoenix Company.

The event also has an origami workshop which will be conducted by city-based textile designer Atulya Vipin. Some of Atulya’s works are included in the Christmas hampers as well. “I was in love with the art of paper folding when I was five. So, the workshop is going to cover the basics of origami,” says Atulya.
Both workshop and sale start at the same time. The workshop is open to children above 10 years and also adults. Registration fee for the workshop is `1,770 (inclusive of material kit and GST).

“We have a variety of textile products here in our studio. All our products are animal-friendly and for the same reason, we don’t use silk, leather or pearls for our designs,” adds Aditi. The Phoenix Company has a website for merchandising their products. “We get orders and reviews from and outside the city,” says Aditi

The pop-up sale and workshop will be held this weekend at The Srinivas Art Gallery, Adyar. The pop-up sale is from 10:30 am to 8 pm while the workshop will get over at 1:30 pm. For details, call: 9382628919.
