CHENNAI: Agitating doctors of the Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association let loose balloons with slogans and demands scribbled on them into the air on the Directorate of Medical Services campus on Wednesday. They are protesting for the 15th day, demanding 50 per cent quota for government doctors in Post Graduation courses.
The students' council at Government Kilpauk Medical College sat in protest, while the students council of Madras Medical College, Service Doctors and Post Graduates Association stopped working. The students announced they had stopped going for planned surgeries and attending medical camps, besides boycotting classes.
Health minister C Vijaya Basker, health secretary J Radhakrishnan, Public Health Director Dr K Kolandaswamy and Medical Education Director Dr A Edwin Joe urged them to ensure work was not disturbed in government hospitals.
