CHENNAI: Mj (music jockey) Giri Giri hosts the four-hour morning show Don’t worry with Giri Giri on Big FM 92.7 from 7 am onwards. He graduated from New College, Chennai and has been in the media industry since 2007 as a TV programme producer, theatre artist and music jockey.

What’s your Chennai connect?
My radio shows help me connect with the city the most. It is both my identity and my pride.

One thing in namma ooru that you fancy?
The ever-welcoming and friendly approach of our people. Everybody asks if you have eaten!

Three things in the city you cannot find anywhere else in the world?
Nice theatres, unity and adaptability of the people.

Your favourite hangout spots?
Marina Beach and ECR.

Three stereotypes that people have about Chennai that make you roll your eyes?
The weather being too hot and also the traffic being too heavy.

Where would you take a person new to the city? Why?
Marina Beach, so that I can boast about it being the second largest beach in Asia.

What would you change about the city?
Politics. Unfortunately, I really do not have much of a say in it.

Your fondest memory of the city ?
Times spent at the Spencer plaza during the good old days. Going to Spencer Plaza was a big thing back then. We used to dress up in our best attire to go there.

How would you greet another Chennai vaasi if you met abroad?
Hey macha!
