CHENNAI: Director P Bharathiraja’s son Manoj K Bharathi was caught driving under influence at Nungambakkam on Friday. He is the second Kollywood actor in recent times who was caught drunk when behind the wheels. “Manoj had attended an event at Nungambakkam where he had consumed alcohol and was returning in his BMW car, and was found speeding on Sterling Road around 2 pm.
A traffic police team stopped the car and found that the actor was driving,” said a police officer. The breath analyser test confirmed that Manoj was drunk. The police seized the vehicle and took it to Nungabakkam police station.
Manoj was issued a challan and made to pay the fine. The actor was booked under IPC section 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and sections 185 (Driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs). Similarly, in September, Tamil film actor Jai was booked by the police for drunk driving, after his car rammed into the side railing of the bridge at Adyar.
