CHENNAI: Bigger projects should be implemented without causing any trouble to farmlands, said actor Rajinikanth, addressing media here on Sunday. Rajinikanth had invited one Mohamed Yasin (7), son of Batcha, a resident of Tirupur, who handed over `50,000 to police which he had found on his way to police. In order to felicitate him, Rajini met the boy and offered a gold chain to him, assuring that he would take care of his higher education and provide him with whatever he wanted.
Later, speaking to media, he said, “I wish any good politician should emerge in the state like Kamarajar. In education, Tamil Nadu is performing comparatively far better than other states. I think that they are doing their works to bring more improvements in education. Sengottaiyan, Minister for School Education, is doing his job well.”
Welcoming the Centre’s move to conduct simultaneous polls to Parliament and Assemblies across the country, the actor and political aspirant said, “There is nothing impossible. It (simultaneous poll) will be good. Time and money from political parties will be saved by this move. Hence, all parties should realise the importance of the move and they should support it.”
Rajinikanth said he would take a decision on whether he (his party) should contest the Parliamentary election or not, at the time of the election.
Supporting the proposed Salem-Chennai eight-lane green corridor project, he said, “Such a kind of big project should be implemented. Then only the country will develop and many industries will set up units and job opportunities would be generated. At the same time, some are opposing the project. The government should convince the people, who oppose the project, by offering land and money to them.” He added that it would be better to implement the project without causing any trouble to farmlands.
As for the Lokayukta, Rajini said, “I welcome the Bill. It should function as a powerful Lokayukta”.
Refusing to criticise the state government over an issue, he said, “It is very easy to criticise. But I suggest that it performs better.”
Responding to a question about his full-time politics, Rajini said, “Time will say about my full-time politics.” Dispelling reports that the Rajinikanth Makkal Mandram had reached 1 crore membership, he said, “The reports are wrong and in fact, we are moving towards 1 crore membership.”
