CHENNAI: The second edition of Homepreneur Awards was launched on Tuesday by K Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil Language and Culture, and Carnatic singer Sudha Raghunathan. This platform recognises and celebrates women who have chosen to pursue their passion through entrepreneurship from home.

K Pandiarajan

The award is the brainchild of CK Kumaravel, CEO and co-founder, Naturals. He has always been passionate about empowering women, helping them be self-sufficient and financially independent. “Many talented women go unrecognised due to many reasons. Many of them are not allowed to grow because their families restrict them. I want to take the potential that is available at each and every house, encourage them, nurture them, and guide them so that they can reach great heights,” said Kumaravel.  He wants to continue recognising role models from our neighbourhood and the people around us who initiate and participate in small and impressive activities.

Hemachandran, founder-CEO of Brand Avatar was also present at the event. “Let us motivate women who do business from home, who generate income through their craft, and who have the ability to do something on their own. Our vision is to unearth that talent,” he said. Hemachandran also explained the registration process and the categories of business based on which the applicants will be selected. The selected applicants will be awarded based on the uniqueness of their idea, the impact and the importance of the business to the family and the society as a whole.

Eleven jury members from different walks of life will judge the participants. Homepreneur Awards will be given away at an event in Chennai on August 5, 2018 with music, entertainment and keynote speeches by celebrities.
