S Railway GM inspects foot overbridges

Presently, the existing foot overbridges at Chennai Egmore,  Mambalam and Tambaram are being widened and a new foot overbridge is being built at Guindy at a total cost of around `8 crore.

CHENNAI: In the backdrop of the recommendations made by the Southern Circle Railway Safety Commissioner to widen the foot overbridges in suburban stations to improve the passenger safety, Southern Railway General Manager R K Kulshreshtha inspected various suburban stations in the Beach-Tambaram section on Wednesday. 

The GM conducted an inspection at the Chennai Egmore, Mambalam, Guindy and St Thomas Mount railway stations. He was accompanied by Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Naveen Gulati and other top officials. 

Kulshrestha inspected the foot overbridge and reviewed the feasibility of expansion of the facility at Egmore station. Later in the day, he also inspected Mambalam, Guindy and St Thomas Mount railway stations.

At the St Thomas Mount station, the works of raising platform and other safety parameters were inspected.
