CHENNAI: A district-level office-bearer of the BJP’s women’s wing has lodged a complaint with the Chennai police commissioner alleging party vice president Karu Nagarajan, through his aides, had threatened to kill her after she accused him of sexual harassment.
According to the complaint, the woman had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a week ago detailing the alleged harassment. She said she joined the party in 2018, and first came in contact with Nagarajan during a party event, where he obtained her phone number. She alleged he subsequently harassed her through repeated phone calls, and also behaved inappropriately while travelling together and at the party office.
The complainant further said she had raised the issue with state party leaders earlier, but no action was taken. She has now alleged following her letter to the PM, Nagarajan, through his aides, issued death threats and verbally abused her. She has urged the police to take appropriate action.
