NEW DELHI: As the admission season arrives at the University of Delhi(DU), the varsity’s local community radio, is trying to revamp itself in this admission season.

To help the students with admission process, Delhi University Community Radio (DUCR) is coming up with new ideas to reach maximum students by broadcasting programs related to admissions.

The varsity radio which runs from 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m, has reserved two of its slots --’DU ki Hulchul’ and ‘Admission express’ through which it imparts education to students who are aspiring to get admission in DU. "DU KI HULCHUL" which is broadcast-ed for one hour in the morning gives information to the students related to admissions such as how to fill the online registration forms, admission and cutoff dates, information about helpline and "open-days", other daily happenings in the campus.

The other slot "Admission Express" that is scheduled between 2.00 pm ton 2.30 pm goes live in which students volunteers give information about the 66 colleges of DU such as the history of college, alumni, number seats, hostel admission and cutoff, courses offered, nearest metro station, how to reach the college and so on.

DUCR- a small port cabin is run by the few student volunteers who act as its media correspondent are keenly working hard to spread information regarding DU admissions whereas the University Information Centre (UIC) which is dedicated to answer the calls on the admission helpline number (011-27006900)has become helpless due to lack of staffs.

While the Issac John, assistant consultant of DUCR told the Express that they will broadcast the admission related programs for two months till the new session will start. The campus radio is also giving information through social media platforms.

It has created a Facebook page in the name DUCR ‘Facebook Live’ where it’s correspondents and volunteers will go to all faculties, departments and colleges and will make a 10 minutes short film which will be played live on the DUCR FB page. "Through these videos we are trying to cover all the important information about the college, clubs, societies, courses, sports facilities and all other relevant topics related to admission and general queries," said Anil Kumar, Senior volunteer at DUCR.

He also said, we are also creating email ID and Whatsapp group to give information to the students. The Facebook page of DUCR has got 1500 views in a day and also the videos are shared by the different students organisation.
