NEW DELHI:  The Delhi government has started enrolment of healthcare workers of hospitals, nursing homes, and other health facilities for administering Covid vaccine under its first phase of inoculation in the city.

The Directorate of Family Welfare already has data of several hospitals and nursing homes but has asked all registered and unregistered facilities to enroll on priority by December 5, said a government official.

“The process is to find out the number of doses required for healthcare workers, who will be immunized in the first phase as and when the vaccine is available.

The data is being collected and all medical institutions including dispensaries have been asked to submit details of their staff.” Scores of healthcare workers at government and private facilities contracted the infection while a couple of them even succumbed to the infection. Cases of Covid re-infections are also a matter of concern.

On Friday, the government issued a notice inviting all medical institutions including small and unregistered clinics to register themselves and submit data of their healthcare workers, including supporting, security and administrative staff.

Centre asks healthcare facilities to give names of staff for vaccine programme

“DELHI government invites all those remaining healthcare facilities to submit the names of healthcare workers in their institutions, nursing homes, clinics and OPDs.” “Healthcare workers include medical and paramedical staff, supporting, security and administrative staff of all allopathic, dental, AYUSH, physiotherapy clinics, diagnostic laboratories, radiology centres and other healthcare settings,” the notice says.

The department has generated a link on Delhi State Health Mission’s website where details of the frontline healthcare workforce can be submitted after registration. A separate link has also been provided for unregistered clinics. The Centre is already preparing a format and has asked states to submit lists of priority population groups to receive vaccines, especially health workers engaged in the management of Covid-19. It announced that initially, it was expecting to receive and utilise 400-500 million doses of vaccine against coronavirus covering approximately 20-25 crore people.
