NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old businessman was detained on Friday after he raised slogan against Gandhi Nagar MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely during an event where Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta was also present. This is the first appearance of Gupta since the recent attack on her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said that the person was identified as Praveen Sharma, who runs a TV cable business in Ajeet Nagar, and claimed to be a BJP worker for the last 40 years.

On Friday, he raised slogans against Lovely while he was addressing the public and said that his voice should reach before the CM.

Sharma was behind the barricades and was in a street where he was immediately apprehended and removed. No Security of the VIP was breached at any point of time, the DCP said.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lok Sabha MP Harsh Malhotra, and senior leader Lovely marked their presence at 'Vastrika 2025', a prominent cultural and textile event held in Delhi.
