‘Instead of reviewing their 13-year record, they question us on first day?’ CM Rekha Gupta slams AAP

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday dismissed AAP’s allegations of “breaking promises” over the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, asserting that the party had no right to question her government. She pointed out that AAP ruled Delhi for 13 years and failed to deliver on key issues.

Responding to criticism from former CM and AAP leader Atishi, Gupta said, “The Congress ruled for 15 years and AAP for 13. Instead of reviewing their own records, they are questioning us on our first day? We held a cabinet meeting immediately after taking the oath and approved the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which AAP had blocked. We provided `10 lakh benefit to Delhiites on day one.”

Gupta, sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday, inducted six MLAs into her cabinet. During its maiden meeting, the Delhi Cabinet approved the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, discussed the Mahila Samridhi Yojana and decided to table 14 pending CAG reports in the first session of the eighth Assembly.

The political slugfest intensified after Atishi accused the BJP of “deceiving Delhiites,” claiming the party failed to fulfill its promise of providing `2,500 cash assistance to women in the first cabinet meeting.

Gupta countered by accusing both Congress and AAP of neglecting Delhi’s citizens and relying on empty slogans.

“Congress ruled for 15 years, followed by AAP, yet neither addressed the people’s real concerns. Now, after just one day in office, they are already questioning us,” she stated.

Newly appointed minister Ashish Sood also said the BJP government would fulfill all poll promises but required time to bring governance “back on track.” He said AAP’s decade-long corruption had finally ended with BJP’s arrival.
