NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has busted two alleged Pakistan-linked terror modules and arrested six operatives who were allegedly being handled by Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti, officials said. One module was tasked with carrying out a terror attack targeting a vital installation or police establishment in the capital, while the other was involved in cross-border arms trafficking, officials said on Monday.
“The first module was being handled by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI handler Rana Hunain, an associate of Bhatti. This module was tasked to carry out an attack on any vital installation or police establishment in Delhi using petrol bombs,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said.
Two accused were arrested from Vijay Ghat area along with three petrol bombs and Rs 2000. They have been identified as Danish alias Chand Miya (24) and Salman (20), both residents of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
The second module was allegedly involved in cross-border arms trafficking and was being handled by ISI handler Hassan Gujjar, another associate of Bhatti. This module was receiving weapons smuggled from Pakistan smuggled through drones, police said.
The funds provided by the handlers were allegedly being used to finance terror and criminal activities in India. Three accused were arrested from Kalindi Kunj area along with three pistols and five live cartridges. A fourth accused was arrested from Amritsar in Punjab, Kushwah stated. In this module, police nabbed Tayyab (27), a resident of Delhi, Jubair Khan (24), Ali Fazal (26), residents of UP, and Malkiat Singh (36), a resident of Punjab.
Kushwah said Danish came in contact with Hunain through social media in April. He was tasked with conducting reconnaissance and identifying a vital installation or police establishment in Delhi. He was promised Rs 20,000 after completion of the work. Salman, a friend of Danish, came to Delhi along with him and was directed to record a video of the attack. He was also promised Rs 20,000, police said.
Tayyab allegedly came in contact with Gujjar through social media. On Gujjar’s directions, he sent his friend Khan to receive a consignment of sophisticated arms and ammunition from Singh in Amritsar. Khan allegedly handed over the weapons to Fazal for sale to buyers in Delhi or UP.
