HYDERABAD: What do you think of when `Tibet’ pops into your mind apart from the Dalai Lama, momos and Richard Gere? You can now add Tibetan medicine to the list.

Mentsee Khang, a Tibetan medical and astrological institute, opened shop in the twin cities, thus catering to the growing demand for alternative medical therapy. The institute will offer treatments based on Tibetan Medicine, which is believed to be derived from Gautama Buddha’s teachings.

The main aim of the Tibetan Medical System (TMS) is to restore health and longevity, prevention and healing of disease and health, hapiness and prosperity. It relies on herbo-mineral combinations that treat the root of the disease. In addition to common ailments TMS can also treat diabetes, hypertension, arthritis and cardiovascular and nervous diseases, gynecological problems, cold and allergies, cancer, gastro-intestinal problems and psychosomatic disorders.

The Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute is headquartered at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh and has 46 branch hospitals in India and Nepal.
