HYDERABAD: The gates of St Francis Degree College for Girls were thrown open for the college students of the city to celebrate their Inter Collegiate youth Festival — Xpressions 2010, which had been organised by the faculty of the Arts department.

Girls and boys were mingling with each other in a happy and carefree banter, otherwise a rare sight in the all-girls college.

Apart from socialising opportunities, the students and the faculty members had organised a series of events and competitions for the students across all colleges in the city. While hordes of students crowded the college premises, the fest served different purposes to different students.

Saheli Chakravorty, one of the organising members of the fest said that, “Being able to organise an event on this scale and coordinate everything and making it a success on the final day was a fantastic experience.” While Apoorv Gokhale who was attending the fest added, “St Francis college festivals were always popular as it gives students to build network and also have a good time. Also, many of the guys who come to the fest are mainly here to interact with the girls.”

A live rock band, a fashion show and a live interaction with RJ Bharath of Radio Mirchi were part of the festival. Away from the regular classes, the students were seen enthusiastically participating in the events and showcasing their talents or cheering their friends. Even the faculty members were seen actively participating in the activities.

High spirits and the careless frolicking were contagious sweeping the crowd to day filled with fun and gaiety, after all nobody wanted to be left out of the party.
