HYDERABAD: CCS sleuths also arrested a notorious automobile thief, Hari Koti Lenin Babu of Mangalagiri, involved in theft of nearly 34 two-wheelers and recovered 20 stolen vehicles. He was arrested following a tip-off by Vijayawada police. In another catch, Habeebnagar police arrested Susheel Sagar of Bidar, Karnataka and recovered 13 stolen two-wheelers worth `6.5 lakh. Khan said they had also recovered 55 unclaimed vehicles from various parking lots across the city. “They might be stolen ones,” Khan said adding, they were trying to trace out owners with help of vehicle registration, chassis and engine number. Police siad seven gangs involved in auto thefts were arrested in the past three months. Surveillance at parking lots in railway stations of Secunderabad, Begumpet and other places has been increased.

Khan said 1,126 vehicles had been stolen till October this year and the recovery rate was 45 percent.
