HYDERABAD: Following up the curbs imposed on massage parlours in the city a couple of days ago, the city police on Thursday conducted surprise raids on a few centres to check for any violations. The checks were mainly conducted in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills areas proliferated by such massage parlours.
The city police commissioner issued orders prohibiting female masseurs from serving men and vice-versa.
The local police in these two areas prepared a list of about 60 massage centres running in their jurisdiction and started checks in the morning. They, however, didn’t find any indecent activity in any massage centre.
“We found that some massage centres do not have the mandatory trade licences from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). We are also gathering information from customers about the parlours. If we find any illegal and indecent activities in any massage centre, cases will be registered against them under Section 68, 70 and 74 of the Hyderabad City Police Act (read with Section 144 of Cr PC and also Section 3 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act,” Jubilee Hills inspector K Narsinga Rao told Expresso. Recently, the police nabbed 19 organisers of massage centres and 31 female workers who were found to be indulging in indecent, obscene and illegal activities in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.
“There is no problem if the masseurs and the customer are of the same sex. We warned house and apartment owners not to lease or rent their homes for massage centres,” the inspector added.
Narsing Rao said they checked at least six massage centres in Jubilee Hills limits including Sri Devi Parlor on Road No. 17, Ayur Care on Road No.17, Kerala Homeo Centre on Road No.17, Ayush Care on Road No. 5 and Latitude Care on Road No. 36.
“The parlour owners were told to maintain a register with details of customers, including their mobile numbers,” he said.
