HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has completed the 22-km Outer Ring road stretch from Narsingi to Patancheru. HMDA officials carried out a joint inspection with police on Saturday, for allowing traffic on this stretch.
Built at a cost of Rs 704 crore, the road will provide connectivity to Vijayawada and Mumbai on NH-9, NH-7 towards Bengaluru, state highways to Vikarabad, Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar apart from Gachibowli and Hi-tec City. With completion of the Narsingi-Patancheru stretch, around 85.5 km out of the total 158-km of ORR has been completed.
The road will enable heavy transport vehicles bound for Mumbai, Bengaluru and Vijayawada travel without having to go through city limits. It will also provide access to Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar highways, thereby reducing traffic congestion in the city. By opening of the southern sector of ORR stretch, heavy vehicular traffic can move freely even in the day. The journey time for vehicles from Patancheru to Peddamberpet will be reduced from two-and-half hours to about 50 minutes while for vehicles from Patancheru to Shamshabad, it will be reduced from two hours to about 25 minutes.
