Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy’s vitriolic attack on Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seems to have vertically split the State Cabinet.

Ministers C Ramachandraiah, Kondru Muralimohan and Sake Sailajanath on Sunday backed Anam, alleging that the late YS Rajaskehara Reddy had allowed his son to amass wealth at the cost of the State exchequer. Ramachandraiah held YSR responsible for “large-scale corruption” during his regime.

He said some ministers had signed GOs, which paved the way for Jagan to mint money, only under pressure from YSR. Kondru Murali and Sailajanath also echoed the same views and endorsed Anam’s stinging remarks against Jagan.

Labour Minister Danam Nagender, however, disapproved of Anam’s comments. “It is not appropriate for anybody to cast aspersions on a great leader like Rajasekhara Reddy. As I adore the late YSR very much, the remarks being made against him, pain me,” he said. He felt former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, a BC, was made a scapegoat. “It is not fair to make one minister the sacrificial lamb for the decisions taken by the entire Cabinet,” he said.

Stating that home minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy was innocent, Danam said there was no need for her to resign. He regretted that CBI’s charges against ministers were tarnishing the party’s image.
