Former TDP Legislator Masqati Dead

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam leader and former MLA and MLC Ibrahim bin Abdullah Masqati died here on Monday following brief illness caused by age-related problems. He was 85.

Namaz-e-Janaza was held after Asar at Makkah Masjid and later he was buried at a graveyard near DRDO at Kanchanbagh in the old city. 

Masqati was a popular leader in the old city, known for his generosity. He was elected twice as MLA on MIM ticket from the Yakutpura constituency. Later, he joined the TDP and served as its vice-president.He established the Masqati Dairy.

TS chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana deputy chief minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali and others mourned Masqati.

Several leaders recalled the services of Masqati, especially during Ramzan, and said the old city of Hyderabad lost a veteran citizen and true representative of its culture.
