Don't Fuss Over Item Numbers

HYDERABAD: Although she started her career with her cousin  and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s guidance, Mannara Chopra is now creating her own identity in the film industry. The actress, who was seen in 2014 film Zid, spoke about her fondness for Hyderabad.

“I’m shooting in Vizag now, but I love places down South,” says the upcoming actress who was in the city to launch Natraj’s Fighter Plus sunflower refined oil on Monday.

The one-film-old actress in Bollywood (apart from a couple of Tamil films)says she’s open to doing item songs as well. “I would love to do a dance-based film sometime. In fact, I love item numbers too. They have their own negative side, but I think it needs to be treated on a lighter viewpoint. It is too early in my career to do an item number, but sometime, I hope I get to do that,” she justifies.

Talking about the censor board controversies, like most film stars, she too feels that freedom has to be given to the filmmakers. “We cannot call ourselves a liberal country when our freedom of expression is curtailed. I think there should be a balance between the policies that have to be followed and the bold scenes required in some films,” she signs off.
